| Music for Prayer and Devotion includes selections from most of the world's religions, sung by peoples as diverse as American Indians, Georgians, Hungarian Jews, Russians, Tibetans, Turks, and even Benedictine monks from Jerusalem chanting the Hebrew Shema. Despite the amazing diversity, they are united by their deep devotion to God. This makes for profound listening or could be used as a shorter version instead of the whole set for use in sacred services. There is some duplication with CD's in UW 07, but many new selections as well. Our first sample is by the Marcel Lorand Quartet, holocaust survivors from Hungary. The second is by the Russian group, the Sirin Choir and finally, the Sura Al kadr sung by Semi Bushra Ghazi, an American Moslem. | |
